Project 1 - Paper Lamp
Intersection
Intersection is a paper lamp created by me, featuring an intersection of triangular pieces of paper creating clean lines and sharp edges.
Inspiration -
This artwork located outside of Naas Fire Station, named ‘Siren’, initially inspired the design. The trumpet-like shapes are quite intriguing and could transform into an interesting lamp.
Pinterest provided inspiration for this project, aiding in the discovery of the lamp style I preferred and offering several ideas to assist in the design process of my lamp
Prototyping -
Initial prototype – This design was made taking inspiration from ‘Siren’, however, it didn’t reflect the angular and modular style that was preferred for the final lamp.
Second prototype – an exploration of the different ways that paper can be folded and bent together.
Final Design -
The design evolved into something more angular by cutting out diamond and triangle shapes and sticking them together to create a linear pattern.
The final design showcases clean, sharp edges, and its geometric form introduces a modern touch to a room. It serves as a functional light while blending sophistication with simplicity.
